If you’ve been following along on my Instagram stories you will know that our tiny room-of-many-purposes has gone through yet again another transformation!
Since we moved into this house 2.5 years ago, this room has been known as the nursery – we were planning on having more kids soonish, until Henley proceeded to not sleep through the night for another year.
Then it held a bed for Greyson to sleep in and was Mark’s office.
Then it became the pantry for approximately 6 months of our never ending kitchen renovation.
Then it became my office and it was absolutely wonderful to have a door, but soon became impossible as Mark was working full-time and in school. If I shut the door on myself I could be sure something catastrophic would greet me when I came out. Haha! #toddlermomlife
AND NOW! It’s final purpose and my most favorite – my dream closet/dressing room!!
I stumbled upon this Ikea wardrobe set up on Facebook Marketplace. We are no strangers to the Ikea Pax system, as we’ve had a smaller version in our room. But this was a steal. They were only asking $500 for over 3 times the space of our current wardrobe.
I brought the idea up to my husband and he surprisingly was all in. Honestly, I shouldn’t have been that surprised, as our marriage would have benefited from a separate dressing room from the beginning! Haha!
In my defense, I am now realizing just how much the lack of space/storage in our master bedroom was influencing my inability to get my shit together in that area. Haha. The “step-in” closet in our 1930’s Craftsman Bungalow was just not cutting it!
How it morphed into a closet and dressing room.
I had already been doing my makeup in this room for a few weeks. Once we decided to convert the room fully into a closet, it just made sense to transfer my makeup into the Alex drawers that were already in the room. Getting rid of my vanity in our master freed up some valuable real estate and will make the room far less cramped.
Personally, I think it is important to make your home an oasis. Having spaces that are comfortable and not anxiety-inducing allows you to not expend unnecessary energy and get down to business with whatever your purpose(s) are in life.
Having a closet/dressing room has done that for both me and my husband! Haha!
Also, because I’m from the Midwest and can’t resist sharing a good deal – we only paid $440 for this $1750 worth of Ikea Pax! Honestly, it would totally have been worth it full price as well – just not in the budget right now. If you wanna make something like this happen, the Ikea Pax system is super customizable and so versatile.
It is all in the details.
Obvi it’s all my favorite, but this little corner is extra sweet to me. I feel so grown up having a lingerie chest. Haha! It is seriously such a relief to have all of this organized.
So Mark and I have not had traditional dressers for the last 3 years (due to space in our bedroom). I will never live without drawers again! That may seem a little dramatic but they are seriously so functional! Haha!
This jewelry/belt drawer makes me soooo happy! And we were able to transfer my necklace rack from my the wardrobe in our bedroom.
Another bank of drawers!!! I can easily see what I have at a glance with these nice large drawers. All of my things can breathe and so can I! Haha!
All of this organization has been so inspiring when it comes to getting ready! And when it comes to deciding if I need that thing on the sale rack at Target. Haha!
Over here we have my shoes and bags (and lots more space! Haha!) These basket drawers are so convenient.
I have been keeping my lighting set up to make filming easier, but also am thinking I can squeeze them into the actual closet at times too.
This space is a dream come true!
