I used to be the cannot leave the house without winged liner kinda girl. I still love me some wings from time to time, but lately I’ve been loving simplicity. So for this makeup look, I decided to keep it simple yet festive with a pop of green and gold. It literally took me all of 5 minutes to do my eye makeup, which is great for the holidays when you’re running around to get to Christmas parties.
What I Used
Let’s be honest, I have a million different eyeshadow palletes. So I didn’t stick to just one for this look, but I’m sure there’s a pallete out there with these colors. I used the Kylie Cosmetics Holiday 2016 collection pallete for a nude shade and the pop of green. The Smashbox Minimalist pallete for this dusty taupe color which is a current fave. And I also used a pressed shadow from Colourpop called Just In Time for the gold. I did use a black shadow from another pallete, but any black shadow will do the trick!
Get The Look
I always start my eye looks with the crease. This is the most important step in order to blend it out and bring the shades together. I used a fluffy blending brush to buff in the light tan shade into my crease first. I applied a few passes of that shade until I was happy with the payoff. Then I went in with the dusty taupe color and blending that over the tan shade. I did the same thing until I was happy with the the blended-ness (I made the word up, just go with it lol).
The next step is to add the gold to the lid. I always use Glitter Glue on my lids especially when using a shimmer shadow. It literally locks that shadow in all day long and also helps the shadow to pop more in color! I just apply it with my finger, then I pack some gold shadow on my finger as well. Just apply it to the entire lid. I find that applying shimmer with my finger reduces fall out and also seems to have better color payoff.
Go back in with your fluffy blending brush and blend the crease and the lid colors together in the crease. It will get rid of any harsh lines and really bring everything together. Instead of using a harsh liner, I just took a black eyeshadow on an small angled brush. I packed it super close to my lash line. This just gave my eyes a more smoky look which I think is always great for the holidays!
For the lower lash line, I grabbed this gorgeous Christmas green color on a pencil brush and too that right under my lower lashes. Going in with a smaller pencil brush pick up the gold shade and take that from the inner corner of your eye across to meet the green. Blend these shades together. I applied a black pencil liner to my lower water line and a coat of mascara and I was done!
To Finish Off The Look
Take any of your favorite red or burgundy lip colors and apply that to the lips. I love a good dark lip color for the holidays. It just gives me all the chic and sassy vibes, which I love for the holidays! For this look I used the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in the shade Madrid. We probably sound like a broken record with those, but they are legit the best matte liquid lip on the planet in my opinion. Now you’ve completed the look. How freakin easy was that?!
