Have you thought to wear shorts in the winter? I love the challenge of pullings something characteristically off season into the current one. Plus it breaks up the monotony of wearing the same jeans that may or may not be currently happening in my life. Haha
Today I’m sharing a few tips for pulling off this look!
Tips for Wearing Shorts in the Winter
1. Keep it winter on top.
Oversized sweaters, a layered blazer, or a long duster are great options here. Since my jeans were black leather, I think most anything that I would normally wear with black jeans would work.
2. Be mindful of the fabric.
When it comes to shorts in the winter I like to stick with tweed, leather, or wintery plaid patterns. Though I’m sure there are a few other options that I am missing, pretty much everything else does not cross over well.
3. Add tights.
I don’t know about you but the older I get I am less likely to martyr myself in the name of fashion. Haha! Adding tights to the look both winterizes it and protects your legs from the elements, at least a little. There are so many cool patterns and options for tights but you can’t go wrong with a good black pair. I love that these ones are barely sheer.
4. Pair with OTK, or thigh-high boots.
At 5’10” my over the knee boots don’t like to stay over my knees but that is besides the point. Haha! Minimizing the amount of leg shown, further winterizes the look. If you’re tall like me you may want to invest in a thigh high pair.
5. Keep it cas, or glam it up.
I kept it more casual with the leopard cross-body bag pictured above. Of course, I forgot to get a shot but I likely would have paired this with my cropped faux leather jacket in keeping with the casual vibe.
Then I glammed it up with my camel colored faux fur coat, vintage bag, and a scarf.
