Hey babes! I’ve been loving this almost effortless braided ponytail lately. It’s perfect for the woman that wants to look and feel put together without taking too much time to get there. Here is how you get to this super cute summer hairstyle!
Blow Dry Your Damp Hair
The first step is to blow dry your hair when it gets to its damp stage. I like to let my hair mostly air dry a lot of the time so I don’t damage it as much. But I also like the volume I get from blow drying so I do that when my hair is still damp.
If your hair is fine and slippery like mine you’ll want to add texture to the front of your hair. I used a dry shampoo and a hairspray that isn’t sticky so I could still run my fingers through it to braid it. This adds the perfect amount of volume and texture to help your braid stay in place!
Start Your Braid
I grab a thin section from the front that is almost to the corners of my forehead. You’ll separate this section into three sections to start a dutch braid. In a dutch braid you’ll take your outside sections underneath the middle section. Do a few stitches without adding in any hair to make the front more secure. Then start adding in sections to do a dutch french braid. You will stop adding in hair once you get to the crown of your head and braid it a little further down. When your braid is done, start pulling on the sections of the braid to make it a lot fuller!
Now For the Ponytail
Pull the rest of your hair up with the braid to the crown of your head and secure it with an elastic. You could either leave your hair straight or you can take a few seconds to curl the hair in the ponytail like I did. I always pull a few pieces down by my ears to give me a little more messy look.
You’re done! I absolutely love this look for days I don’t feel like curling all of my hair or when I want my hair pulled up. I hope you try it out!
