Ok Babes! So I think it is safe to speak for both of The Soulful Babes, in saying that we have been lacking inspiration for our YouTube videos for a bit. Our biggest problem is honestly ourselves. Lindsey and I could be the poster children for fixed mindsets rather than growth mindsets (I’ll be writing more on this soon).
But I also went down a little YouTube rabbit hole today and I think I found another big player in our creative woes: the channels I have been following. I saw a quote on instagram today that said “Do not compare your chapter 1 to another person’s chapter 21.” So when all you follow is established channels with millions of subscribers who have both the money and the time to produce TV quality videos, you can start to believe the lie “I shouldn’t even bother. My stuff can’t possibly be that good.”
BUT everybody started somewhere. And today I found a bunch of [relatively] smaller channels that were absolutely killing it, and I left feeling so inspired. My mind went from “I shouldn’t even bother!” to “I can do that too!” (Obviously, with a unique Soulful Babes Spin:))
I know most of you come here for style + revival empowerment and inspiration, not for tips on starting a YouTube channel. So me sharing that little insight into my mind was just a little real talk. I was so inspired by these women doing their thing with confidence and I believe you will be inspired by the content they put out!

This girl is absolutely lovely. I watched a couple of her videos on How to Look Taller and was impressed by all her tips and tricks. At 5’1″ she is 3/4 of a foot shorter than me but has a shockingly similar perspective on doing simple things to elongate the body.
Lindsey and I’s body types are only slightly different, and though we can see above that women of different body types and heights can at times be after the same thing, it can be hard for us to provide insight into what feels good for a woman of a different size/shape. This series on women size 0-28 trying on the same item is incredible! Bodies are beautiful and we want to be able to help all women feel empowered in the clothes that they wear!
I actually found this fellow boy mom about a month ago and I love her channel! She is effortlessly adorable and there is something for everybody on her lifestyle channel. I LOVE her Chic on a Budget series and plan to do something similar soon.
Jenny Mustard + Justine Leconte
This video was so fun for me to watch. How cool to be able to learn about French and Scandinavian style directly from a French woman and a Scandinavian woman?! I felt like I was just sitting with them chatting (which I’m sure is the feeling they were going for). It is neat to see how different their cultures are from American fashion culture and how some things are the same.
Empowering Videos
I’ve gotta mention her again in this category because of her Confidence and Self Love Series. She is so down to earth and sweet you can’t help but feel uplifted after watching her. She hits the nail on the head with how women (myself included) can get caught up with things that they can’t actually change rather than shifting their mindset.
Sunny’s channel is mainly geared toward entrepreneurs. However, I honestly believe that growth mindset is something that everybody in my generation/previous generations needs to learn about. My aunt is even using growth mindset in her kindergarten classroom and I believe that that generation is going to be far better set up for success. Seriously, a mindset shift like this is that powerful. Think about the emphasis the Bible puts on renewing your mind (more videos on that below!)

First of all this girl is so relatable in general, but I also relate to her on a personal level. Like me, she took accutane for cystic acne but still deals with scarring and large pores post treatment. Her skin looks amazing and based on the comments it looks like her review is legit. I am interested to watch more of her channel!
I actually have been following Michelle’s Instagram and Blog for sometime but found this extremely informative video this week. It pretty much confirms my long held suspicions of the “natural” beauty market with some hard evidence. She did a great job at making the science entertaining!
