Yesterday we shared all our tips for being a successful thrift store shopper and today we are sharing some of our recent finds! Unfortunately we weren’t really able to follow any of our own tips as we were crunched for time and had two cute [whiney] boys in tow. AND I’m not sure when the last time Lindsey went thrifting, but I could see the overwhelm on her face the moment we went in. I’m telling you, you have to prepare yoself!!
In spite of all of those factors I we were wildly successful in the blazer/jacket department.
Jenne’s Thrift Finds
1. Chanel Tweed Jacket | $10.99
No lie my jaw dropped when I realized that what I thought was a Chanel look alike was actually Chanel! A brief internet search suggests that this is from the Spring 2005 collection. The thing about Chanel Tweed is that it NEVER goes out of style. They literally reimagine it each season but the tweed remains a staple to their brand.
Currently, I’m loving it styled with a casual white tank and jeans. It can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with a pair of tennis shoes.
2. Kasper & Co Blazer | $10.99
It kills me that I spent the same for this blazer that I did for the Chanel jacket! Haha! But the cut and detailing on this one made it a good thrift purchase.
I love the sass of the lapels, the leather piping, and the classic pattern. Oh AND the shoulder pads! I’m beginning to see the appeal of drawing the attention to the breadth the of the shoulders, in turn slimming the waist.
The blazer is such a versatile piece and a great 3rd piece to complete any outfit.
3. Pret A Porter Blazer | $0.99
Ok this is the only one that I was on the fence about because it is so basic. But it was only 99cents. My plan is to do some magic with my sewing machine and make it into a blazer dress. I’ve had my eye on quite a few but none of my options beat this thrift store price!
4. Susan Lazar Blazer | $0.69
Yup, you read that right. I got a blazer for 69 cents?! Legit cannot beat that. This one also had dramatic lapels and I love that it is grey. I tend to gravitate to black & white often, so this was a welcome change (even thought its not that different).
5. Talbot’s Mom Jeans | $4.99
Okay, Lindsey thought I was crazy when I picked up these. I slipped them on and they fit like a glove and she couldn’t deny that they were kind of cute. The pleated front is so unique and fun!
This is one of those “don’t knock it till you try it” things. Moms were totally onto something with this style. First of all there is no stretch to them, which is a terrible thing in relation to skinny jeans, but no so here. They actually hold you in where you want to be held in. My mom pouch is real, though I am embracing my body as it is (even while trying to exercise and take care of it) I’m not opposed to drawing attention away from that area.
Also, I’ve got a butt and some thighs on me. Most things that fit around my waist, cut off the circulation of my legs. Haha I’m being a little dramatic, but that is what it feels like. I’m totally here for this more laid back style of denim.
Lindsey’s Thrift Finds
1. Banana Republic Tweed Jacket | $6.99
How cute is this tweed number?! This one fit Lindsey perfectly and was in excellent condition. Actually everything we found was!
We LOVE the details on this jacket and cannot get over the fringed bottom. Again, such a versatile and classically feminine piece.
2. Liz Claiborne Blazer | $0.98
Lindsey is sure to get so much use out of this classic! At just 99 cents her price per wear is going to be next to nothing!!
I think we are set on blazers for awhile…
