One of our reader’s asked what would look good on her plus size body, so for this Style Wise Wednesday I am sharing the tips that immediately came to mind. And when I say immediately, I mean after spending a few minutes (days) feeling completely unqualified to speak on the topic. Haha
After some research, I recognized some common threads of challenges for all women getting dressed, no matter their size. Though I can agree that a plus size woman might have more difficulty envisioning herself in certain styles since the majority of advertising/the fashion industry, uses one specific body type.
I’m hoping that this post with empower you and give you the tools and resources to start dressing your body with ease!
1. Shift Your Mindset.
You must start here. Remove all negative language surrounding your body and getting dressed from your thoughts and words. Fill your mind with body positive messages, rehearse times that you felt great in your body and what you were wearing rather than rehearsing times that you felt uncomfortable.

3. Buy Clothes That Fit
Every woman is guilty of hanging onto that pair of pants that is one or two sizes too small right?! But what good does it do?! They might seem like motivation when they are on the hanger or in the drawer, but the moment you put them on, apart from not being able to move or breath, all you feel is sh*tty about yourself. It’s not worth it sisters! Throw them out!
On the other hand, some women attempt to “hide” everything they are not comfortable with in oversized clothing. This has the same affect.
I can tell you from experience, the “situation” in your head about your size becomes far less dire when your clothes actually fit. So do yourself a favor! Those skinny jeans should hug your curves in all the right places. Don’t settle for less.
Curvy Girls You Should Follow
Honestly it’s so inspiring to me to see these women embrace their bodies and open up about their journeys to the point of acceptance. And beyond. They are absolutely killing it and living their best lives. It kills me that body acceptance is even a thing that needs to be discussed. But it is and every woman I know, myself included has been affected by our culture’s limiting attitude toward the female form.
Frankie Tavares is a new follow, but WOW!
I have been following Sarah from Sassy Red Lipstick for a little while now. Girl has got style and in all about that body love message.
