Style Wise Question of the Week
What are your favorite stores to shop at?
L | So what is your favorite store, Jenne? (In her best radio announcer voice. Haha!)
J | One of my favorite stores to shop at is H&M.
L | Good one!
J | I feel like they have so many different style categories. So I’m not sure there is an overall vibe to it, other than OPTIONS! All the options! Like, I love it!
L | And they’re affordable! I love that they do the 15% off if you bring in a clothing donation.
J | Yes! Yes! They have really good clearance. Honestly I never buy anything full priced there. I’ve been loving this YouTube Chic on a Budget Series by Valeria Lipovetsky (mentioned in this post). She gets a lot of her stuff for those videos from H& M.
L | They have really cute stuff. Mom even tried on a really cute blazer that I would wear, when we were there for Christmas.
J | They do have really great workwear, fashion/trendy stuff, and even a preppy section. And of course they have great kids stuff. Oh I forgot about men’s! It’s the only place we can shop for Mark’s slender frame!
L | Yaassss!
J | The only thing I hate about H&M is the sizing, but I have heard that they are changing it. I wear my normal size on top and like 3 sizes bigger on the bottom.
L | And that kind of makes it difficult to shop, not that it matters what the number is.
J | It actually does kind of matter in my head, not that I want it too. It’s not super comforting to go into a store and your regular size is way to small. But I think it’s great they are listening to the consumer and making a change!
J | What about you? What’s a store that you like to shop at?
L | I own quite a few things from Francesca’s.
J | I knew you would say that!
L | I honestly haven’t shopped there since last summer, but I love pretty much everything they have there. They have amazing jewelry options and they always seem to be doing a sale, like buy one get one 50% off. It’s nice because they are kind of pricier. The quality of things is really nice too, so they last a long time.
J | Yeah, I like that too.
L | I feel like they always kind of go with the trends. I always find something I like, but sometimes I love EVERYTHING in the store. They have cute handbags too. They even have really cute nick nacky things. Cute mugs, wall hangings, ring dishes, coasters.
J | They are all really trendy little nick nacks and even like quote books. Not like annoying stuff (you know what we are talking about right?! Haha!)
L | They are typically smaller stores and it seams like they have a lot to offer for such a small space.
J | Yeah, Mark often hit’s up Francesca’s for stocking stuffers.
L | Those things are perfect stocking stuffers. You can always depend on them for good jewelry.
J | My next one I’m gonna say, it really depends on the store you have. But I have a really good one near me it’s a double decker. Haha! But Forever 21. This one is huge and it is actually usually pretty organized. So when I went the last time they just had so many options for patterns, textures, and styles. I was pleasantly surprised. You can see my try-on in a previous Style Wise Wednesday post on Pattern Mixing.
L | Yeah. The last several times I’ve gone to Forever 21 I would quickly get overwhelmed, because some of them are not organized well at all.
J | Yeah, there are actually two stores near me and I feel the same way about one of them. The one that I like is two stories and it is really spread out.
L | I remember going to that one for your birthday and I did really like it.
J | I do like to hit them up especially for costume/trendy jewelry because it is such a good deal.
L | Oh yeah, we got quite a few pairs of tassel earrings for cheap!
J | It has in the past been a place where I would go in and have to go up multiple sizes, but it seemed pretty true to size the last time I went.
J | Kkkk, another store you like?
L | I have to say Target.
J | DUH!!! I mean if that didn’t make this list, what is life?! Haha!
L | Seriously, cuz like they’re affordable and they’re quality is not lacking. I’ve been loving both of their new lines, A New Day and Universal Thread. I feel like they were such a great addition to Target.
J | I agree.
L | I mean I love Target in general but they’re clothing is so good right now.
J | And they’re purses and shoes are sooo good. I’m loving all of it! And you pretty much never have to pay full price there either. I love it because you can get trendier items that you wouldn’t necessarily wear as often without feeling like it’s a waste of money.
L | And they actually do hold up really well.
J | Oh yeah, I have that pair of sandals that I have been wearing pretty much all summer and they still look great!
L | I’m loving it because I felt like I had kind of out grown the Mossimo and Xhileration brands and I wasn’t quite mature enough for the Merona line either.
J | But it’s kind of dangerous too. I can’t go into a Target store without perusing the clearance racks now. So much good stuff! Before we move on let’s just add that we love everything at Target, not just clothes.
L | Yaassss! I love their furniture, I just ordered some actually. (See what she purchase in this post!) Target is where it’s at!!
L | What other stores do you like?
J | I really do like J. Crew as well. Although, I do feel like my style is gravitating away from super preppy, which is their brand aesthetic. But it is an awesome spot for workwear and their stuff is so well made. They do also have a ton of sales and offer great coupons.
L | I got those pom pom pants and that off the shoulder black top that you got too, so they do have some trendier stuff too.
J | Yeah, that is true! It seriously just fits me really well. Like I don’t have to try hard to find things that look good on my body and feel comfortable. It’s awesome. And some of their stuff can lend itself towards the chic aesthetic that I am moving toward.
L | I feel like my last one is so basic but I literally only buy my pants and shorts from American Eagle. I guess I did get some shorts from Kohl’s that you can read about here. But I love that I know I will be comfortable in their flexible denim and I’m all about that. But that’s what I mainly get there is my pants and shorts, and my husband’s pants. He will not go back from their extreme flex denim.
Old Navy and Abercrombie and Fitch
J | I guess I have two for my last stores then. I really love the denim from both Abercrombie and Old Navy. They are super stretchy and offer full range of movement. Abercrombie’s high rise denim is even higher than ae’s and I LOVE it. I do have quite a few other things from their too and I have to say it is not as expensive as everybody thinks. There are always sales and coupons. It’s actually really affordable.
L | I know I was actually so surprised because when we were growing up Mom would not take us their or Hollister.
J | Even American Eagle was a no-go! Granted back then I don’t think either store offered the long length that I needed. Now Abercrombie and Old Navy even have a Tall option that makes every part of the jean longer, not just the inseam. I have both the Long and Tall from Old Navy and it’s impressive how much more comfortable the Tall option is for me at 5’10”.
J | I also love thrifting! So I will have to share some of my fav spots here soon.
L | Def!
