Hey babes! It’s almost that time of year again where we break out the red, white, and blue in celebration of the 4th of July. Jenne and I wanted to share a few simple outfit ideas that you could rock at your barbecue without having to run to the store last minute. Jenne is even sharing the outfits her cute boys will be wearing this year.
Button Down Shirt + Denim Shorts
I have been loving a good button down shirt. I button the shirt all the way down until I reach the top of my shorts. Then I take the remaining material and tie it in a cute knot. I feel like this is such a simple way to add interest to a basic button down top. I found this adorable blue striped one at Target and I couldn’t be more obsessed!! If you don’t own anything red (like me) just add a pop of red on the lips and you’re ready to go!
Basic White Tee + Denim Shorts + Scarf
I’ve also been loving taking a basic white tee and knotting it in the front! It helps make the shirt appear more fitting which gives me a lot more shape than if I were to wear it normal. I loved adding this navy gingham scarf to this outfit to get some more of that blue in this outfit. You could even put the scarf in your hair if it’s too warm to wear around the neck!
Off-the-Shoulder Crop Top + High Waisted Shorts
This combo is just as comfortable as it is cute. The light-weight fabric of the top is perfect for a hot afternoon in July. I love pairing a boxy top like this with a high waist and slightly tucking it in in the front. Since I am 5’10” I don’t usually wear more than a two-inch wedge with shorts, but it is a great way to lengthen the legs!
As you can tell, we both agree that a red lip is a great accessory for the 4th! Here are a few of the ones I have in my collection.
Understated Americana Apparel
I love these navy shorts with stars for the boys. They definitely make sense on the 4th of July, but I don’t think that it has to be the 4th for them to be worn. Holiday specific apparel can be fun, but is often so trendy that it doesn’t work more than one year in a row. As you can see above, Lindsey and I lean toward combining pieces that are already in our wardrobe to come up with something that works for the holiday.
Also, that look on Hen’s face?! He has quite the personality!
